Weight Management
Maintaining a healthy weight is essential to looking and feeling your best.
However, if you’re clinically obese, weight loss can be more complicated than just eating less and moving more! Often, after working hard to lose weight, you can quickly gain it back again, leaving you in a cycle of perpetual yo-yo dieting.
At Clinic 42, our doctors are offering an exciting new weight management programme using the injectable prescription-only medication Saxenda®. Not only can our weight management programme assist in lowering your body weight but most importantly, it can help prevent weight from being regained. Saxenda® is used as an adjunct to reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for weight management in obese adult patients who meet certain criteria.
Saxenda® is similar to the natural hormone that your body releases after eating to signal you are full. This results in you feeling less hungry at mealtimes and more satisfied with a smaller amount of food. For most people, eating less can result in long-term weight loss. In addition, reducing your weight and maintaining your weight loss may be beneficial for your overall health and wellbeing.
As Saxenda® is a prescription-only medication, it’s essential to book an initial consultation with our doctors.
During the consultation, our doctors will take a full medical history and a blood test is required to determine whether you are suitable. The injection itself is administered at home daily via a pen device with a very fine needle for maximum comfort. At your consultation, you’ll be shown how easy it is to use your device to ensure you have the confidence to do it at home.
Following the initial consultation, you’ll receive a one-week follow-up phone call and then a two-week face-to-face follow up consultation with our Clinic 42 nurse, where you can check-in and ask any further questions. At week three, you’ll have a second face-to-face consultation with our doctor, where your progress will be assessed and any necessary adjustments to your weight management programme can be made.
For those interested in additional information and support, all patients will be given access to the SaxendaCare patient portal. SaxendaCare offers weekly support emails and a comprehensive range of online tools where you can set goals, track your weight loss, and complete a food and exercise diary to assist you in your weight management programme.
Once you have reached your goals you can move into the maintenance phase of our weight management programme. This step is vital to stabilise your new healthy weight for good! During the maintenance phase, the dose and frequency of your Saxenda® prescription is reduced and we will continue to monitor your progress every few months.
Saxenda® is an innovative new treatment in the management of attaining a healthy weight and Clinic 42 can help you to safely achieve your goals.
