Sculptra®

Sculptra is a biostimulator that is injected into the facial tissue to stimulate and revitalise natural collagen production. As collagen production is gradually stimulated, the skin starts to regain its structure and volume.

Sculptra not only produces collagen, but also elastin and hyaluronic acid giving the tissue back its strength and luminosity

So what is Sculptra ?

Sculptra is a biostimulator that contains a substance called PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid), which is injected deep under your skin. There the  PLLA works with your body to stimulate and revitalise the natural collagen production. As collagen production is stimulated, the skin starts to regain its structure and volume.

There is also an amazing effect on the skin itself which results in a beautiful glow and improved skin texture.

How long does a treatment take and what is the cost?

Sculptra is a 60 minute appointment.

The number of treatments required is dependent on the loss of volume and collagen. Some patients may only require 1 to 2 treatments focusing on skin texture and luminosity, while others  who are dealing with more substantial volume loss may require up to 3 treatments.

This is a very exciting new treatment that is ideal for those experiencing loose skin and sagging who want natural, gradual results that will last.

Sculptra $800 per vial.

What areas can be treated?

We are currently only using Sculptra for the face. But is very popular and widely used for a range of face and body treatments in the USA and Brazil.

How long will the treatment last?

The results develop slowly over time and continue to develop, with clinic trials showing results can last up to 2 years after the last treatment. It is recommended to repeat treatment annually.

What side effects can Sculptra cause?

The common injection related side effects are localised and may include one or more of the following:

  • Swelling/redness/bruising/pain/tenderness/ itching
  • Rare side effects can occur and include – Injection into a blood vessel. This may result in skin discoloration and breakdown, blistering and scab formation which may result in a scar.
  • Extremly rare side effects – cases of blindness have resulted from filler injection – especially when injecting the nose and between the eyes.

Am I suitable for this treatment?
